One turn at a time.
CubeTurns is operated by Trappist. It is a free, independent tool for solving standard 3×3 twisty puzzles. Scan six faces or enter colors by hand, check the result, and follow the solution at your own pace.
How it works
The scanner samples nine areas of each face and compares their colors with the six center stickers. Lighting, reflections, worn stickers and camera color balance can affect recognition. Review all colors before solving. The displayed scheme is U white, R red, F green, D yellow, L orange, and B blue. For other schemes, use the face letters as your reference and enter colors manually.
We validate color counts, cubie identity, corner twists, edge flips and permutation parity before solving. A separate browser worker runs Herbert Kociemba’s two-phase solving algorithm. Solutions are verified by applying the moves to the entered state. They are not guaranteed to be the shortest possible solution.
Open-source credits
The cube model and solver are adapted from cube.js by its contributors, under the MIT license. The original license is included here. The interface and scanner are independently implemented. This project is not affiliated with Ruwix, Rubik’s Brand, or any puzzle manufacturer.
Languages
The solver interface and instructions are available in 24 languages. Translations may contain mistakes; cube face letters follow standard U, R, F, D, L, B notation in every language. Privacy, technical credits and the detailed cube guide are currently in English. Contact us to report a translation issue.
Use
This tool is provided as-is, without warranties. Do not force a stuck puzzle. A cube that has been taken apart or has twisted pieces may require physical correction before any sequence of moves can solve it.
